Fact-Check Results

After accessing this photo in the Oecusse Merdeka Facebook ID post, Timor-Leste Fact-Checker started to do an online fact-check that this photo was fake, not original because it had been manipulated by an irresponsible person. The facts show that the process of burning this photo is not burning a photo of the Timor-Leste flag but a Palestinian demonstrator who burned the American flag when there was a demonstration of the refusal of the decision of American President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The owner of this photo is Agence France Presse (AFP) photographer Abbas Momani who took this photo at the scene of the demonstration at the Jewish settlement of Beit El, near the West Bank city of Ramallah on Thursday 27 of December 2018.
